On August 28th 2024,Baluchistsn Government High Officials explored the Vital Role of Ömerli Dam in Istanbul's Water Supply.
Nearly 97% of Istanbul’s drinking water comes from surface water reservoirs? One of the key sources is the Ömerli-Darlık system on the Asian side, which plays a crucial role in providing clean water to the city. To protect this valuable resource, a major sanitation project was launched in 1999 to prevent wastewater pollution.
The Ömerli Dam, built on the Riva Creek, not only supplies drinking water but also supports irrigation and reforestation efforts, highlighting an integrated approach to water management. As Istanbul continues to grow, preserving and managing these water systems remains essential for the city's sustainability.
