A humanitarian emergency is generally defined as a large-scale “event or series of events that represents a critical threat to the health, safety, security or wellbeing of a community”. The elements of a humanitarian emergency are
a proximate cause/event, and
a vulnerable population that is
in need of an urgent life-saving response.
Humanitarian emergencies can have a wide range of causes of natural hazards for example earthquakes, floods, and tsunamis to pandemics. To provide relief to the communities during disasters HRDN implemented various projects related to thematic areas.
During various disasters and pandemics HRDN played its role in the following :
Raising awareness during disasters and providing its support through different response initiatives
Arranging capacity-building customized workshops for concerned professionals to deal with affected communities
Designing and conducting research studies and assessments
Designing and implementing activities and projects
Arranging medical camps as per the need etc
