Mr. Haq Nawaz Khan possesses a wide range of experience in different extension-oriented projects, with a particular focus on agriculture.
He has served the Department of Agriculture, Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan in different capacities from Agriculture Officer through Director General Agriculture from September 15, 1975 to May 15, 2014 (date of retirement). During his career with the Department of Agriculture, AJK, he has mainly focused on agricultural extension, horticultural development and capacity building. He has worked for more than five years as Director General, Extension Services Management Academy (ESMA), Garhi Dopatta, AJK, an institution responsible for capacity building of the officers/officials from various Nation Building Departments (NBDs) in general and professionals & Para-professionals of Natural Resource Management (NRM) both from public as well as private sector and community activists in particular.
Moreover, his work entails provision of different consultancy services, for various organizations like FAO, UNDP, NRSP, IUCN, PPAF, JBIC, DHV-Netherlands, & HRDI for more than eight years, primarily in the field of training and capacity building. In addition to this, he has worked with various expatriate consultants as “Counterpart” on different assignments mainly related to livelihood, capacity building and community development.
He is currently involved in writing a text book on “Farm Forestry and Watershed Management”, also designing a state of the art training module/course on “Conservation Agriculture” focusing on low-cost soil & water conservation techniques particularly in hilly terrains like the Azad Jammu & Kashmir state & a training module on “Climate Change and its effects”.
Mr. Haq Nawaz Khan holds a postgraduate degree in Agricultural Extension Education.
